Milky Way over Monasterboice

Milky Way over Monasterboice

Earlier this evening, I went to the back of the house with my 5 year old & 8 year old to show them some stars. I showed them the plough [big dipper] & the north star [polaris]. My little girl even got to see her 1st ever shooting star as it shot across the western sky. We also spotted two satellites crossing above us, heading north.

I went out later on tonight to photograph the clear sky. I tried to image the Milky Way, while including the tops of trees, to show you the scale of the shot. This was taken at 16mm on a full frame camera. After taking this, I'd love to get my hands on a wider, even fish eye lens to capture even more of the sky.
